In October 2026, buyers in Belgium, including the EU institutions in Brussels, published 132 notices for IT services on TED. Most of them were new calls for tenders: 83 contract notices. There were also 41 award notices, 8 prior information notices announcing calls still to come, and 0 notices modifying contracts already awarded.
What was published
Of the 83 new calls, 39 still had a deadline that had not passed on 1 November 2026. That is fewer than half. The window to respond closes quickly: a call published early in the month may already be out of reach a few weeks later.
The most active buyer was Vlaamse Overheid, with 10 notices. It was followed by Smals with 8 notices and Infrabel sa with 5.
On the results side, 34 of the 41 award notices stated a total value in euro, together €577.5m. The largest single award, worth €280.0m, came from NMBS. That one contract makes up a large share of the total, so the sum is shaped by a single result and should not be read as a typical contract size.
What this means for suppliers
The points below are general advice, not a description of the data.
- Monitor continuously. With fewer than half of the month’s calls still open at the end of it, a monthly check is likely too slow. A weekly scan of new notices gives you more time to decide and to write.
- Read the prior information notices. The 8 announcements of calls to come are an early signal. Use them to line up references, CVs and possible partners before the actual call appears.
- Get to know the frequent buyers. Buyers such as Vlaamse Overheid, Smals and Infrabel sa publish regularly. Studying their earlier notices can help you understand how they structure lots, which documents they ask for and how they tend to evaluate offers.
- Use award notices as market information. Results show who wins and, often, at what value. For large contracts beyond your own capacity, consider whether subcontracting or a consortium could be a realistic way in.
- Keep a bid library ready. Up-to-date company documents, certificates, standard texts and project references save time when deadlines are short.
Finally, be selective. Not every call fits your profile, and a clear go or no-go decision early on usually leaves more energy for the bids that matter.
Calls you can still bid on
The first 10 of the 27 calls from this month that close on or after 11 November 2026, soonest first. Calls closing earlier are left out: too little time to prepare a bid.
